What if a simple park bench became your only refuge on a capsizing journey? A unique and breathtaking adventure under the deceptive Maui sun.
Several months ago, after an intense period of writing in Italy… While I was still bubbling with ideas and inspiration, a crazy and amusing idea came to me for a future book! A kind of experiment; I was planning to spend my entire days on a park bench. The same one! For a while. A few weeks. A few months. A year. Who knows! And, observe. See what would come out of it; the stories, the inspiration… Discover what I would also possibly witness by contemplating the lives of others and life, period. An idea that I had simply noted down… Then, forget it and return to my writings and my daily life of the moment.A few months later, I finally landed in Hawaii, Maui to be precise. A couple of near-strangers had invited me there. And well, since I'd been on the move since leaving Costa Rica, wandering from one place to another, letting myself be carried by the wind and living out of my suitcases, I simply accepted the invitation. However, from the very beginning of this stay, which was to last a whole month, I felt the need to take refuge, alone, from this daily life shared with this couple of intense retirees. Without giving this old idea much thought, I had quite naturally, from the first day of my trip, adopted a park bench, facing the ocean, a bench on which to escape. An excuse to just get out of the house. A secret place of my own!
And… Day by day, the situation in the strangers' condominium had disintegrated… After a little less than two weeks, the feeling of having to leave these places, urgently, had begun to make itself felt within me. Intensely. To the point of completely overwhelming me. I could no longer pretend. I could no longer stay. Tolerate. Suffer. I absolutely had to desert this place. Run away… Before it was too late!
In this novel, largely inspired by my trip to Hawaii, you will find firstly, the tranquil dreams of these ten days of singular experimentation, and secondly, the reality and the continuation of this unusual journey that I experienced under the burning sun of Maui.
On the menu: experimentation, observations, sun, beaches, crystals, gurus, sects, demons, stress, fear, sexual depraved and perverted people, sex, friendship, drugs, alcohol... The island of Maui was definitely going to show me all the colors!
